About Adam
Bazalgette, PGA
Three-Time SWFL PGA Teacher of the Year & Founder of Scratch Golf Academy

Learning the Game & Falling in Love with Golf

Adam Bazalgette was born in London, England and started playing golf at 10 years of age. A year later, he moved with his family to Scotland (not too far from St. Andrews) where his love affair with golf really began. He was hooked for life.

As a teenager, he moved to the United States in order to finish school and continue honing his golf skills. After making his way to Florida, he began working at a golf club in Orlando and taking lessons from a then relatively unknown golf instructor; David Leadbetter.

Turning Pro, Playing, & Teaching the Game

At the age of 18, Adam turned professional and started competing on mini-tours around Florida. At the same time, he was also giving private lessons and developing a real passion for teaching the game.

Over the next several years, he spent time teaching in New York and South Carolina, but always had a strong desire to move back to Florida, his “home away from home."

An opportunity presented itself, and shortly after he relocated back to Orlando and began working at the original David Leadbetter Golf Academy. During his tenure there, he was able to observe some of the best players in the world practice, up close and personal, on a daily basis.

At the time David’s top students included Nick Faldo, Nick Price, Charles Howell III, Justin Rose, and many other top PGA Tour players and college standouts.

Director of Instruction at the David Leadbetter Academy

A few years later, Leadbetter opened a second Academy in Naples, Florida, and chose Adam to become the Director of Instruction at the new David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

During this 13-year period, he traveled extensively for corporate outings and oversaw countless summer golf schools and clinics throughout the United States.

While traveling around the United States working for the Leadbetter Academy was a fantastic career opportunity, he grew tired of the travel demands, and wanted to stay closer to home to be with his wife & daughter.

Director of Instruction at the Club at Mediterra

Next, Adam accepted a position as the Director of Instruction at the prestigious Club at Mediterra in Naples, FL.

During the last 13 years there he has invited many friends, known names in the world of teaching, to Mediterra to do golf schools together.

These include David Leadbetter, Bennett & Plummer (founders of Stack & Tilt), Fred Shoemaker (Author of Extraordinary Golf, and Extraordinary Putting), Todd Sones (noted short game instructor, and Golf Digest Top 50), Mike Shannon (Putting coach to the pros, Golf Digest Top 50), Steven Yellin, Founder of Fluid Motion Factor, and mental coach to two Olympic teams, as well as numerous other coaches & instructors.

Co-Founder of Scratch Golf Academy

Adam's vast playing and instruction background has allowed Adam to develop unique teaching methods that are proven to work for golfers of all levels.

As a result, the SWFL PGA has three times voted Adam as Teacher of the Year in Florida (1998, 2008, 2018).

In 2016, he co-founded the #1 online golf instruction platform Scratch Golf Academy.

In just a few years, Scratch Golf Academy has turned into a worldwide movement that has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of golfers in nearly 200 countries around the world (and growing).

When he isn’t working tirelessly to help Scratch Golf Academy members improve their golf game, you’ll find him reading a book, watching football, and spending time with his lovely family.
